Sue Fernside

I have known Jen for many years and have always been impressed by her professionalism and dedication to her work. She has never been complacent and has always worked to improve her skills and knowledge.  I value her opinion.

Three years ago, following the death of my old horse, I purchased Theo, a 16.1 h Dutch Warmblood gelding.  As a mature rider, I bought him with a view to enjoying hacking and maybe having a go at sidesaddle.  He had previously done some dressage but, at that time, I was more interested in showing.
I felt that Theo had potential and asked Jen to ride and school him for me so that we could get an idea of his potential.  Over the months, Jen rode once or twice a week.  She was already very busy as a Yard Manager at a riding centre but came to help me in her free time.  She developed a great connection with him and was able to compete successfully in several disciplines.  She has moulded  him into a wonderfully versatile horse.  She has won numerous Riding Horse classes at local and national level, won affiliated dressage classes with him and won at side saddle in her first show.
With her help, I have had the confidence to  ride side saddle with great success also at local and national level and I hope to do some dressage.
Without Jen’s help, encouragement and guidance, I would never have achieved what I have.  I know that whatever direction she will take in her new career, she will give one hundred per cent and will be a tremendous asset to any employer.

"I am lucky enough to have been taught by Jen for the last couple of years.  I felt I learnt more in those two years than I had done in all my 20 years of riding.

Jen is a fantastic teacher and explains things in a clear and interesting way.  She has a natural affinity with horses and teaches you that if the horse is doing something wrong, it is generally due to the rider, and by correcting your own position you can solve most issues.  I felt that I became an effective and competent rider under Jen's tuition.  She taught me so much and for that I will always be very grateful."
