STANDARD POLICY FEATURES OF OUR HORSE INSURANCE POLICIES
Being prepared for the unexpected is vital where your horse is involved. That is why we provide, as part of our standard horse insurance policy, death, accident, illness and disease insurance. Our horse insurance policies also offer you protection against theft, straying and public liability. Not only will your animals be covered, but you will also receive lost passport cover and an equine legal protection benefit.
POLICY HORSE INSURANCE EXCLUSIONS
As thorough as our policies are, there are a few exclusions to bear in mind. These include slaughter (except on humane grounds) without the consent of the general agent as well as the destruction of the horse as a result of economic expediency. Visit our exclusions page for further information.
POLICY EXCESSES APPLICABLE TO OUT HORSE INSURANCE POLICIES
The following excess amounts are applicable when making a claim:
Death: no excess applies
Saddlery and tack
£1,000 cover: £100
£2,000 cover: £200
Third party damage: £100
Dental treatment: £50 (under the personal accident section)
Trailer/horse drawn vehicle: £100 (accidental damage/theft)
Veterinary fees
Depending on the horse insurance cover option you select the excess can vary from £95 up to £500 per claim. Remember that the higher you set your excess the lower your premiums will be.
CLASSES OF USE
Through Towergate Equine we can provide you with horse insurance policies for a variety of activities. A detailed list of these usage activities follows below:
USE A
Hacking, dressage, gymkhanas, pony club (excluding racing), riding club, BHS Le Trec, non-thoroughbred broodmares, stallions at stud, unaffiliated novice and intermediate show jumping, novice hunter trials, driving (excluding cross country and trials), showing in hand or under saddle, foals over 30 days and heavy horses (not working).
USE B
As for Use A, with the addition of hunting, pony club racing, unaffiliated open show jumping, show jumping under BSJA rules, open hunter trials, BE affiliated eventing (up to and including intermediate), combined training, long distance riding, vaulting, driving (including cross country and trials) and heavy horses (working).
USE C
As for Use A and B, with the addition of point to point, team chasing, polo, polocrosse, horseball and BE affiliated advanced eventing.
