More Information

White Horse Equine Massage is based in Sheffield, South Yorkshire.  Areas covered include most of Yorkshire, Derbyshire. Nottinghamshire, parts of Lincolnshire and parts of Cheshire..

Our horses become our best friends and we owe it to them to give them the best possible care.  Massage forms an integral part of that care and can often locate and solve a minor issue before it becomes a major one.

Equine Sports Massage Therapy is the manipulation of soft tissue, muscle, fascia and tendon in order to provide comfort and aid in the repair of  soft tissue injuries and insults to maximise the horses freedom of movement and improve his general health and performance.

If your horse displays any of the following  massage would certainly be worth considering for him..

General stiffness/Poor posture

Bucking/Spooking or easily irritated

Cold backed

Uneven/Shortened stride length

Head shaking/Tilting

High head carriage/Hollow outline

Tail carried to one side

General irritation/Tactile defense

Wriggling/Irritation for shoeing/trimming

Clearly the greater the athletic exertion the greater the risk of muscle trauma or injury, but even the less hard working pleasure horse can benefit greatly from the effects of massage.  Muscle injury is often cumulative and can go largely unnoticed.  A professional massage therapist can give a full assessment of your horses muscular health.

A sound knowledge of anatomy and biomechanics should be a pre-requisite for any massage therapist!

I am very happy to work on young, inexperienced or nervous horses and these horses often benefit greatly from body work..

Massage is never a substitute for veterinary care and any horse under the treatment of a veterinarian must first be cleared by the attending vet to ensure massage is appropriate for that horse..
